Still Have It!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Yup, I still have it! I am still a flexible little peanut. It seems like just yesterday that I discovered my feet. Oh, what a day that was for me. I am currently on a sleep strike. I got Mommy up way tooooo early and fought naptime hard today. Mommy told me that I better start sleeping like a good boy so my Nana would come to visit. Nana, are you excited to see me? It is less than a week away now!!!

I'm Baaaaack!

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I'm baaaack! Okay, so I didn't really go anywhere but I did let Mom have the night off yesterday. Mommy hasn't been able to sleep too well lately and she actually went to sleep early and slept all through the night. We are all so proud of her.

Everyone is doing well here. Mommy found out today that when she finally gets her medicine in, she will go to the hospital and they will teach her how to give herself the injections and make sure she doesn't have any reactions. This is such wonderful news and makes the transition of drugs so much less stressful. The nurse told her today that she will have to have 4 injections for her first dose. Two weeks later she will only have to do two and then the next two weeks she will only have one injection. The insurance company still haven't approved the medicine so we are hoping that they stop dragging their feet on the approval. In the meantime, the Entocort seems to be working really well. Mommy is feeling so much better. She is able to run circles around me again.

Grandma and Grandpa Kaye, Mommy wanted me to thank you so much for the sweet card. It was a big pick me up and she was so happy to get it. Thank you so much for making my Mommy smile.

I LOVE Bathtime!

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Have I told you lately how much I love bathtime!? I have to say that only after playing outside, bathtime is my most favorite thing in the world. I love splashing like crazy and making a soaking wet mess for my Mommy to clean up. I had to help Dad with some lawn maintenance today and I got a little dirty. I also checked all the tires on Mommy and Daddy's cars so I got even more dirty. Mommy didn't get mad at all because tonight was bath night. I had a blast. I splashed and danced until I was wore out. Mommy then let me streak through the house for a little bit. Daddy then told me that there was a dresscode and I needed to get dressed.

Rain, Rain, and More Rain!

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Today was full of nothing but rain! It rained cats and dogs all day long which meant that I was stuck inside for the entire time. I was so mad that I couldn't go outside. I did have my Daddy here with me all day so that made it a little better. Mommy didn't get to take any pictures today but I have another surprise for you.

Linda, our wonderful neighbor, stopped by to drop off two recipes that my Great Grandma wanted so I figured I would share them with everyone. Both recipes had the KAYE approval so they are yummy.

Pineapple Cake
1 box of pineapple cake mix -- make as directed.

Icing for the cake
1 sm. instant vanilla pudding
1 sm. can crushed pineapple
Mix these two together and then add an 8oz tub of cool whip

Peanut Butter Pie
1 8oz cream cheese
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 8oz peanut butter
1 cup of milk

Mix all above ingredients together then blend in 2 - 16oz container of cool whip

Pour into 2 graham cracker crust (chocolate is good too) and place these in the freezer until frozen. Take out 1/2 hour prior to serving.

ENJOY!

Friday Treat!

Friday, September 25, 2009

Today was a fun Friday with Mommy. Daddy had to work late so I had to pal around with my Mommy for the day. I took a HUGE nap for Mommy so she decided to give me a treat. She decided to take me to McDonald's for Linner. Linner is between Lunch and Dinner if you didn't know that. I was so happy that I was squealing from the back seat at all the cars that we passed. I had so much fun and I got a cool new hotwheel in my happy meal. I can't wait until I show it to Daddy in the morning. It is red and has some cool rims so I KNOW Daddy will love it!

Just another Thursday...

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Today was just another Thursday. Daddy usually works late so that means I only get to see him in the morning. We had fun but I was a big boy when it was time for him to go to work. I walked Daddy to the front door and said bye-bye. I took a really big nap for Mommy today. She decided to nap as well. Mommy also started teaching me a new song. It is called Itsy Bitsy Spider. I begged her to sing it at least 22 times today! I love it almsot as much as Patty-Cake!

Camouflage!!!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

I am wearing camouflage so you may not be able to see me in the pictures. Today was another good day. I gave Mom a well-deserved break and slept in until 7:45am. I got her up a few times during the night so it was the least I could do for her. I spent most of my day chasing the kitty and climbing on everything! I tried to ride Dallas like a rocking horse and he didn't like it. I could tell because he hissed at me and gave me a paw upside the head. I guess I shouldn't do that anymore.

Mommy also started the Entocort today. She found out that it is a 2 month treatment instead of a 1 month treatment. She has to take the full dose for a month and then the next 4 weeks she has to taper them down. So far there hasn't been any bad side effects. Of course she has only had it in her system for about 12 hours now, but we are hopeful. Thanks to all those who have sent notes to my Mommy and also to those who are keeping her in their prayers. It really means the world to us.

Goodbye Remicade, Hello Humira!

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Goodbye Remicade, Hello Humira! Mommy had her appointment with her GI doctor today. After much contemplation, the doctors agreed that they needed to switch Mommy's treatment plan. Dr. Evans and Dr. Jefferies both agreed that things were getting out of control and they needed to get back in control. Mommy has to take a medicine called Entocort for the next 30 days. Entocort is an anti-inflammatory drug (corticosteroid hormone) that works by decreasing her natural defense response. So.....I am going to have to keep Mommy super healthy over the next month. No germs allowed!

The doctors also decided to take Mommy off of Remicade, so no more infusions at the Cancer Institute. However, they decided to give a different biological drug a try. Mommy starts Humira as soon as she gets her prescription sent to her. Apparently, the local pharmacies do not carry that type of drug and it has to be delivered to us here at the house. Now instead of infusions, Mommy is going to have to give herself shots. The doctor told her that the actual medicine would be similar to my Epi Pen and would come loaded in a pen form. Mommy also found out that the makers of Humira are also the makers of Similac. I told her that it had to be a good medicine because I loved my similac when I was a little baby.

All and all, we are very hopeful with the new treatment plan. Mommy hated that she had to give up Remicade so early but she feels that Humira is the right choice considering the situation. I just want my Mommy to stay healthy so we can keep playing and having fun together. Mommy is not sure when she is going to get her medicine in but when she does, we need all the prayers we can get. We are praying hard for no bad reactions.

I'll keep you posted and Mommy promises that she will have double pictures for everyone tomorrow.

Temper Tantrums

Monday, September 21, 2009

I have officially began the temper tantrum phase. Yes, the sweet little agreeable Peanut has started to fight back. Today I had about three good ones and Mommy didn't budge. I threw my first tantrum when I bumped my head on the door. Yep, I walked into it myself but I got sooooo mad. I threw myself to the ground and yelled really loud. I even pounded my fists on the ground. Mommy's response....she asked me if I felt better. Tantrum #2 was after dinner when Dad took me outside and my pants were soaked. I am not really sure how that happened. It could have been a leaky diaper or juice from my sippy that I had pounded repeatedly on my chair. Needless to say, I was not happy when Mommy made me come right back in for a new diaper and pants. I had a similar tantrum as #1. The last and final tantrum was when I got out of the bath tub and Mommy made me put clothes on. She said that there was a dress code in the living room and it required pants and a shirt. This incident involved a lot of leg kicking and screaming. Oh, the joy of being a toddler!

I'm Back!

Sunday, September 20, 2009

I'm baaaaaacccckk! Yes, I gave Mommy a night off on Saturday. She had worked very hard this week and she went to sleep a little early before she had put on my blog. Daddy was home with us all weekend so it was so much fun. I got to play outside and in Lowe's this weekend. Daddy let me watch football with him too. I wish Daddy was home every weekend with us.

Good Boy!

Friday, September 18, 2009

I was such a good boy today! I fell asleep in my Mommy's lap last night at 8pm and slept all the way to 9:16am! Mommy was so excited to get some well deserved sleep. I also ate like a pig for breakfast. I had all my waffle (except two little bites), 4 handful of veggie chips, half of a handful of trix, and half of a pop tart (Thanks Lyndall)! I even drank an entire sippy of grape juice. Mommy laughed and said she didn't know where I was putting it. I then played around until about 1pm and I decided to bless my Mom with a 3 hour nap. Mommy was so proud of me today. Daddy said that I must be growing because I was eating and sleeping so much!
